Unfortunately, the weather around here has so NOT reflected this time of year. It's been in the 80s and 90s and I am SO ready to see and feel the 60s and 70s! I've been dying to pull out my sweaters, jeans, and sweatshirts. (Sigh) Hopefully soon.
Last weekend my mom and sisters all got together for a girls night out. All of our husbands were busy so we decided to take advantage and have some fun of our own. We started out with dinner and then spent the night at Hobby Lobby (I had a gift card that was burning a hole in my pocket) looking at and buying fall decorations. I had a blast, and it really helped to get ideas from my family. I bought some new fall decorations for our home.
Courtney helped me put this new centerpiece together for our kitchen table. The Yankee candle scent is "Autumn Wreath". It's my favorite fall scent:
I bought a new garland of leaves and pumpkins for our mantle:
Here is a close up of the garland:
and, I bought this fall welcome wreath for our front door:
Now I just need a big (real) pumpkin on our front porch. :)
Speaking of pumpkins, this time of year always puts me in the mood to bake. I especially love anything pumpkin (pumpkin bread, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin cookies, and my favorite, the pumpkin spice latte from Starbucks).
Too bad I'm not drinking caffeine right now because of the pregnancy. :( I also LOVE to bake gingerbread or gingerbread cookies. Oh yeah, I can't forget my love for apple cider too. Actually, most any hot drink will do. :)
I also can't wait until the weather cools down so I can make my favorite soups and chili's. There's nothing like hot soup when it's cold outside.
Another favorite about fall? Season premier week. This week some of my favorite shows start up again. Tonight is the season premier of Glee. Yes, I'm a dork but I'm a music lover and I have become a HUGE fan of this show.
and Thursday night is the season premier of The Office, an old favorite of mine and one of the few shows that Caleb actually enjoys watching with me. Truth be told, The Office is one of his favorite shows too.
And of course, fall would not be complete without fall sports. I love watching Football on Sunday afternoons. There's nothing like snuggling on the couch, eating your favorite football snacks and rooting for your favorite team. GO BRONCOS!!
We went to the Broncos game this past Sunday and it was miserably hot, I'm talking the kind of heat where you're begging for mercy. I think I drank a gallon of water during that game. I have always been freezing cold when I've been to a game in the past, so feeling that hot was definitely a foreign feeling. I guess I just can't win, I'm either freezing or baking in the sun. Needless to say, I prefer to watch the game from my couch. Or anyone's couch. You get the idea.
The other fall sport that is a huge part of our lives is Caleb's volleyball team. I don't see Caleb much in the fall due to all of his practices and games, but it's so worth it to see how much joy he gets out of coaching his team. Elliana and I really enjoy watching the games too.
Fall usually goes by way too quickly for us. It's like they say, time flies when you're having fun. With all of the yummy food and fun fall activities to enjoy, I'm sure we'll be having plenty of fun.

You know what I was thinking when I read this? We should do a "fall baking day" with mom, sisters and all the kiddos. Just a Saturday where we bake tons and tons of pumpkin and gingerbread goodies.
Let's spread the word.
Love the fall decorations! Katie and I had a "girl's night" at Hobby Lobby last weekend too, get in WAY too much trouble in that store!

P.S. I'm so excited for you that you're pregnant again! Yay for beating the PCOS again!
Christine, I LOVE your fall decorations!!! They look great!! And I am game too for a fall cook and bake day!!! Maybe after bible study next week??!! =) We could put a stew or soup in the crockpot and bake spice/pumpkin/apple stuff all day!! Then split them and take to each home!! Let me know what you guys think.
Love you, Mom
LOVE your decorations Christine! That wreath is so perfect! I love fall too, Sept.-November is definitely my favorite time of year, there's just something so delightful about it! David's super jealous you got to go to the Broncos game haha!
Love that you are a Glee fan! I am a fellow "Gleek". And The Office has been one of my longtime favs. Another funny one (if you are a nerd like me) is The Big Bang Theory. And I love the fall decorations!
